The Commonwealth of Virginia and Dominion Energy are working together to change how you receive alerts in the unlikely event of an emergency at the North Anna Power Station. Starting soon, Dominion Energy's alert sirens will be replaced with Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEAs). This means if there is an emergency at the North Anna Power Station, you will receive a cell phone message with information about the emergency and instructions on how to stay safe. This alert system, called IPAWS, was developed by FEMA and will ensure our community is safe and you are informed. These alerts are identical in nature to AMBER and severe weather WEAs.
Please note, implementation was originally scheduled for March 1, 2022. Implementation is now on hold until the approval from FEMA is received.
