Louisa Habitat Dedicates New Home; New Applicants, Donations, and Volunteers are Welcome
On July 12th, Louisa County Habitat for Humanity dedicated its latest
house and formally presented the keys to the new owner, Jodi Martin. She, and her sons Tyler
and Brandon, have been patiently waiting and working on the home, located in the Boswell
Tavern area, for over three years. They put in over 300 hours of what Habitat calls sweat
equity on their home, three times the required amount.
More than 200 volunteers labored on the house for almost a year during its construction.
The volunteer laborers included individuals, church groups, and civic groups from across
Louisa County.
Plans are now being made for the next Habitat house and applicants, funding, and workers
of all skill levels are needed. If you are interested in home ownership, or know someone who
is, contact Sherri at 540-967-9727. Donations by check to help fund this next house are gladly
accepted and may be mailed to HFH, P.O. Box 1179, Louisa, VA 23093. Volunteers, or volunteer groups,
are always welcome; contact Sherri at the number above if you can help.
