Louisa's Community Cupboard is a program of the Louisa County Resource Council. Opened in December of 1999 with 75 participants, today the Cupboard serves approximately 500 families a month or more than 1000 individuals. The Community Cupboard provides monthly bags of non-perishable foods to income eligible individuals and families.

Louisa's Community Cupboard is a cooperative effort between the Central Virginia Food Bank in Richmond, Walmart, Food Lion, Giant Food and Farmer's Foods, churches, civic groups, and community supporters/volunteers. Most food for the monthly supplemental bags is provided by the USDA.

In addition to the USDA food, Louisa's Community Cupboard also provides the intake and screenings for the Louisa County Emergency Food Pantry which meets crisis needs.

DONATIONS AND PROGRAM NEEDS

The Cupboard distributes over 10,000 pounds of food each month to Louisa County residents. With the growing number of participants needing supplemental foods and our ongoing mission of increasing the quality and quantity of foods we provide to our participants, the demand for services is also on the rise. Please consider donating to help those facing financial challenges.
